EXTENDING LEARNING IN EXPLORATORY PLAY

In this clip a child exploring the soil is engaged by the teacher in informal discussion. The teacher’s real interest and respect for what the child is doing allows for questioning in the discussion. This enables the teacher to extend learning in an informal but meaningful way providing the child with a growing understanding of compost.
