FOSTERING LEARNING IN A CONVERSATIONAL APPROACH

A conversation about why there are so many slugs today.
This section celebrates children and adults exploring their worlds together. Meaning is fostered in many ways including conversations about observations and taking advantage of spontaneous opportunities. Children’s interest is nurtured through valuing their contributions, including jokes!

We encourage the children to explore their world at home in their own garden through activities such as a holiday nature hunt and recommending use of the nature detectives website to parents.

This motivates children to bring in specimens or photographs of plants / animals they have found. They are very keen to tell adults and other children what they have found and observed.

Catching the unexpected - listening to a cuckoo.
