Strong materials are hard to break.
Bricks have been used for nearly ten thousand (10 000) years. They are strong and long lasting. The earliest bricks were made of dried clay.
Modern bricks are still made from clay. Clay is a type of sticky soil that does not fall apart. The clay bricks, just like pottery, are heated in a big oven called a kiln to make them hard.
