A mixture is made when two or more materials are mixed up but do not change. Sand and salt can make a mixture.
A solution is made when water dissolves something. Salt dissolving in water makes a solution of salt called saltwater.
Corrosion occurs when a material changes due to water or air being present. Rusting is a form of corrosion.

Paint is a mixture of chemicals that dries to leave a solid, thin layer. There are many types of paint such as gloss and emulsion.

Paint is most used to add colour or provide texture to objects such as toys, cars and walls.

On wood, paint stops rotting from happening.

On metals, paint stops oxygen and water from reaching the metal and protects them from damage.
