Web Materials for Material Science
This Primary Science Teaching Trust sponsored resource allows teachers to create a Materials Trail within their own school to help young students explore the common materials that make up their environment.
The trails are created by fixing QR codes to different materials so that small groups of students, armed with an ipad can find out about designated materials and answer a few simple questions. The trials can be created at two levels of understanding.
The text uses science terminology whose meaning is linked to each page. On completion of a trail students can take a test on the terminology and print out their own certificate that will contain their score.
